"A friend"

Former President Donald Trump was one of the first to release a message paying tribute to his "friend."

Dobbs was one of the biggest media personalities who supported of Trump.

"The Great Lou Dobbs has just passed away — A friend, and truly incredible Journalist, Reporter, and Talent. He understood the World, and what was 'happening,' better than others," Trump, on his Truth Social account, wrote.

He added, "Lou was unique in so many ways, and loved our Country. Our warmest condolences to his wonderful wife, Debi, and family. He will be greatly missed!"

Remembering Dobbs

The New York Post reports:

Dobbs spent more than four decades in journalism, most notably with CNN, which he joined when the network initially launched in 1980, and later Fox News. He was an outspoken supporter of Trump and conservative causes — and notoriously questioned whether former President Barack Obama was born in the US.

Dobbs is, perhaps, most well-known for his longtime show on Fox Business called Lou Dobbs Tonight. Much to the dismay of Republicans, he was fired from the program in 2021.

The Post reports, "He was fired in 2021 after he was named in a $2.7 billion lawsuit filed by a voting technology company, Smartmatic, alleging that he and other Fox hosts defamed Smartmatic while perpetuating President Trump’s lies about election fraud."

The left-wing outlet CNN, surprisingly, has been among those who have paid tribute to Dobbs following his passing.

The outlet, via a spokesperson, has put out a statement, saying, "Lou was one of the CNN originals, who helped launch and shape the network. We are saddened to hear about his passing and extend our sincerest condolences to his wife Debi, children, and his family."
