Lottery winner dined with Bill Clinton before quickly losing fortune

A lottery winner by the name of Janite Lee was 60 years old when fortune was in her favor.

When Lee moved South Korea to America more than 30 years prior, she never could have predicted what the future would hold.

In 1993, Lee secured the jackpot in the Illinois lottery, winning $18 million dollars.

However, that money would not last long.

How Lee spent her fortune during those eight years is a wild story that many do not know!

For eight years, Lee lived a life most can only dream of.

She attended exclusive events, evening dining with President Bill Clinton!

She did a lot of good things with her money, donating much of it to good causes.

However, the money quickly ran out.

In 2001, Lee filed for bankruptcy after she was unable to keep paying for the quality of life she had become accustomed to.

When it was all said and done, Lee only had $700 to her name.

Even more horrifying?

She was in debt a shocking amount – a whopping two and a half MILLION dollars.

It is a bittersweet story, considering Lee attempted to do so much good with her winnings.

From paying for funeral costs for her church to donating to political campaigns, she believed the money was being spent for good.

However, her spending became out of control.

She also continually donated to Democratic fundraisers, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Could the Democratic National Committee and their incessant campaign callers have taken advantage of Lee?

While we may never know the answer to that, one thing is clear -- Lee believed she spent her money on good causes.

She was even ranked on the soft money donors list at one point.

The last update we have on Lee is from 2001, when she ran out of money.

We do not know of Lee’s whereabouts, if she is still alive, or what became of her.

Today, she would be over 91 years old!

We hope that Lee was able to figure her situation out.

What do you think became of Lee?
