Paul Reubens Dead at 70, Loses Cancer Battle

One of the more famous children's show actors of our time is gone.

The man who became famous for playing Pee-Wee Herman, Paul Reubens, has left us at the age of 70.

According to the report, Reubens had a long-running battle with cancer that he ultimately lost.

The announcement came via Reubens' social media account, where he penned a posthumous note to his fans.

A Goodbye…

Reubens had cancer for years but unlike many stars, he chose to keep this battle private.

In his note to fans, he wrote, "Please accept my apology for not going public with what I've been facing the last six years. I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you."

Reubens' first credited role on his IMDb account was as a wedding guest in 1968. He did not see another credit until 1978, which is when his career started to get a bit warm.

By 1980, Reubens was landing regular gigs, but his big break came in 1981 when he was cast as the man-child Pee-Wee Herman.

In 1985, the TV movie went to the big screen for "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure." That movie put Reubens on everyone's radar and created a character that would define him for the majority of his career.

Having said that, he did not let it get in the way of creating his Hollywood star, being cast in a total of 122 roles, including significant work in animation and video games.

Reubens' final role was playing Pat in "Bob's Burgers," an animated TV show in 2023.

His last movie role was in 2016's "Pee-Wee's Big Holiday."

Those that knew him personally sang his praises, but he will forever be known to generations simply as Pee-Wee.
