Lloyd Austin undergoes procedure at hospital, Pentagon says

Shocking news about the health of President Joe Biden’s right-hand man, defense secretary Lloyd Austin, is making headlines again.

According to the Department of Defense, Austin was admitted for surgery for the same bladder issue that caused him weeks of hospitalization in the past.

Pentagon Press Secretary, Major General Paty Ryder, confirmed the news in a recent statement.

What Ryder had to say has made headlines.

“Tonight, at approximately 6 p.m. ET, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III underwent a successful, elective, and minimally invasive follow-up non-surgical procedure related to his bladder issue at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours,” Ryder’s statement said.

“During that period, Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks assumed the functions and duties of the Secretary of Defense and served as the Acting Secretary of Defense. Secretary Austin subsequently resumed his functions and duties as the Secretary of Defense at 8:25 p.m. ET and has returned home. No changes in his official schedule are anticipated at this time, to include his participation in scheduled Memorial Day events,” Ryder’s statement continued.

Regardless of how you may feel about Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s political stances, you have to admit surgery and health issues are always a scary thing.

We are glad to hear that Austin’s surgery was a success and wish him a smooth recovery.

According to defense.gov, Austin served in the military for more than FORTY years.

During those forty years in the military, he did a lot of very noteworthy and brave things that most could only dream of accomplishing.

He saw action overseas and served in places that would absolutely terrify most people.

Still, even with all of the things Austin has accomplished in his life, he's not been without serious controversy.

Earlier this year Austin was taken to the hospital for what was apparently a much more serious procedure than initially believed, but he never really informed the people that he needed to about what was happening to him. He certainly could have put our country in a VERY difficult spot if anything would have happened to him without the Defense Department having an immediate backup plan in place.

Austin DEFINITELY isn't perfect, but he's still human, so we'll be praying that he recovers.
