Liza Minnelli Offers Advice on Getting Old

At one point, Liza Minelli was one of the most recognizable names in show business.

She was a stage legend while also popping up on the big screen from time to time.

At 78, she is now offering some advice on how to survive during her golden years.

One-of-a-Kind

Liza, now 78, had an amazing career, launching her stage career in 1961 as an apprentice at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, MA.

While she was earning her bones in the stage world, her music career also started to take off.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, she released several albums to critical acclaim.

While she became a legend on the stage, she actually got her acting career started at a very young age, appearing in “In the Good Old Summertime” in 1949.

She made her way back to the big screen in 1968, then really staked her claim in the acting world in “Cabaret” in 1968, a role for which she would win the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Now in her golden years, she is offering advice on how to live those years out and enjoy them.

She stated, “I have one piece of advice: Take care of your body ’cause you might live longer than you expect to.

“I just keep replacing parts and moving forward. You just deal with it and be happy, and as Dick Van Dyke sang and taught to me, ‘Put on a Happy Face.’”

She also had a little something to say about today’s entertainers falling victim to social media.

Minnelli stated, “They read trash and tripe and don’t know that my life is really beautiful.

“It’s filled with loved ones, laughter, creativity, and emotional as well as financial safety. People weaponize crazy stories, it’s a friggin’ bore.

“I don’t think people understand what a close family we are.”

Stay healthy, Liza, because we are not ready to lose you yet.
