Liberal Attorneys Try Longshot to Block Trump from Presidency

With Donald Trump now only weeks away from taking office, the liberal horde is throwing everything but the kitchen sink to try to stop him from taking office and hand the presidency to Kamala Harris.

The latest effort is being made by a group of liberal attorneys who are trying to block Trump via the 14^th Amendment.

The problem for them… Trump has never been convicted of sedition or insurrection.

Attorneys Evan Davis and David Schulte are encouraging Democrats to block Trump via the 14^th Amendment, which states that anyone who has participated in an insurrection or lent aid and comfort to such is no longer eligible to run for office.

The two of them penned an op-ed on The Hill outlining their plan.

In part, they wrote, “The unlikelihood of congressional Republicans doing anything that might elect Harris as president is obvious.

“But Democrats need to take a stand against Electoral College votes for a person disqualified by the Constitution from holding office unless and until this disability is removed.

“No less is required by their oath to support and defend the Constitution.”

Their article concludes, “To make an objection under the Count Act requires a petition signed by 20 percent of the members of each House.

“If the objection is sustained by majority vote in each house, the vote is not counted and the number of votes required to be elected is reduced by the number of disqualified votes. If all votes for Trump were not counted, Kamala Harris would be elected president.”

Now, I don’t see Democrats going this route, but do not write this effort off because of Trump’s promise to pardon all January 6 defendants.

I can tell you right now that if Trump pardons anyone who was convicted on sedition charges, there will be Democrats who will pitch this as Trump offering aid and comfort to an insurrectionist, and he could very well be impeached and removed from office over this.

It is exactly why I thought it was foolish of Trump to promise this during the election. If he was going to do this, he should have pulled a Joe Biden and pardoned them on the way out the door at the end of his term.

Sadly, I don’t even think anyone in Trump’s camp has brought this to his attention and if they don’t, it could cost him his presidency.
