Liam Payne alcohol content revealed at time of death

On October 16, 2024, One Direction fans were stunned to learn of the shocking death of Liam Payne.

Payne had reportedly traveled to Argentina to make things right with one of his former bandmates.

He died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, but new information has come to light.

BAC Revealed

As we noted above, Payne was in town to visit with former bandmate Niall Horan, who was performing in Argentina during his latest tour.

Payne had posted on social media, "It's been a while since me and Niall have spoken, we've got a lot to talk about. No bad vibes or anything like that, but we need to talk."

Payne did attend the show, apparently with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, but when the reports of his death had surfaced, Cassidy had reportedly left town already.

Surveillance showed Payne in the hotel lobby, where he was struggling to stand on his own "due to the consumption of various substances."

He was then seen being dragged into his room by hotel personnel, including chief receptionist Esteban Grassi.

Grassi later placed a call to emergency services, stating, "I don't know if the guest's life is in danger. But he has a room with a balcony and we're a little afraid that he might do something life-threatening.”

It was estimated that several minutes after that call was placed, Payne “fell” from the 3-story balcony.

There were questions as to whether this was a suicide or, considering the surveillance footage and timing of the call, if someone had purposely or accidentally pushed Payne over the balcony.

The assumption now seems to be that he fell due to being intoxicated and high, but I am not necessarily buying that, regardless of what that report says.

The toxicology report from his death has been released, showing that he had "cocaine metabolites, methyl-ecgonine, benzoylecgonine, coca-ethylene, and the medication sertraline" in his system at the time of his death.

His blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) was at .27%, where 0.08% is considered legally drunk.

Charges were initially filed against his friend Roger Nores, along with Gilda Martin and Esteban Grassi, two employees of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, but those charges were later dropped.

Brian Paiz and Ezequiel Pereyra have been charged with selling Payne drugs, and are both in prison awaiting their trial.
