Lawyer for Trump ally Vince McMahon says client facing no charges after criminal probe
Donald Trump has been close with the powerful McMahon family for a while now, so Donald's probably smiling about this news:
According to The Hill, A lawyer for Vince McMahon announced on February 12 that Manhattan federal prosecutors have dropped their criminal probe into whether the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) co-founder attempted to cover up multiple allegations of sexual misconduct."
"We have been in consistent communication with the government and understand, with no ambiguity, that the investigation has definitively concluded and will not result in charges," Vince McMahon's attorney, Robert Allen, said in a statement.
Donald Trump and Vince McMahon have been close for a while.
Trump even appointed Linda McMahon to lead the Department of Education. Linda McMahon is the wife of Vince McMahon, although some reports indicate that the pair are divorcing.
Donald Trump even appeared as an on-screen character in Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment company more than once.
Fans of Trump will be glad to know that we have proof he'll be able to handle himself in a close-quarters combat situation if it ever came to that.
Vince McMahon was being investigated because two female employees had accused him of sexual abuse.
According to the SEC, McMahon signed two settlement agreements on behalf of him and the company without disclosing the agreements to the company's board of directors.
This was important because the women accused Vince McMahon of wrongdoing in the workplace, not just in a personal situation.
According to The Hill:
One agreement obligated McMahon to pay a former employee $3 million in exchange for her silence about their “ongoing relations,” and the other obligated him to pay a former WWE independent contractor $7.5 million to keep secret her allegations against him.
Vince McMahon not reporting the payments meant that WWE overstated its 2018 and 2021 net income, according to the SEC.
Do you think Vince McMahon should have had these charges dropped, or is he getting off too lightly?
