Lawyer for Pete Hegseth says assault accuser 'was the aggressor'

When Donald Trump nominated Pete Hegseth for Defense secretary, he probably didn't expect flimsy accusations from almost eight years ago to come back to haunt the candidate.

Well, liberals are trying their best to make sure they do.

Hegseth is currently facing repercussions of past sexual assault allegations, but his lawyer is arguing that Hegseth was actually a VICTIM in the case.

"He is completely and totally innocent. It was completely investigated. She was the aggressor," Hegseth's lawyer said recently.

Hegseth apparently had too many drinks after a speaking engagement in 2017, and his judgment was impaired. Perhaps that's why he didn't stop the sober woman from grabbing him and leading Hegseth back to his hotel room.

Imagine Hegseth's surprise when he, the victim, woke up to allegations of sexual assault. He thought they had eventually gone away because of lack of evidence, but liberals tried to skewer him yet again when Trump nominated Hegseth.

Hegseth's lawyer is now saying that since the accuser is the only one who was sober, and she was the one who led Hegseth back to her room, she is actually the guilty one.

"She took advantage of him. She led him. She was, by all accounts, both video and eyewitness, she was sober. He was drunk. She grabbed him. She took him to his room. She’s like walking arm in arm with him. And really putting it on, and she gets him into his room. And then the police honestly, when they looked at it, even though she was the one that reported it, when they looked at the video, they considered charging her," the lawyer said.

He then addressed why Pete wouldn't have come forward and claimed he was raped -- the incident happened at the height of the "Me Too" movement, and Hegseth thought it was better to keep the situation out of the media, even if he was innocent.

"Obviously Pete’s not gonna sit there and say, ‘I was raped,'" Hegseth's lawyer claimed.

If Hegseth is as innocent as he says he is, then we really hope these allegations don't cause him anymore problems.

Police seem to have reviewed all of the footage they could find and never found any reason to charge Hegseth.

That should be good enough, but liberals always want to complain about something.
