The divisiveness in Congress continues.
While Democrats preach unity, they continue to block minority Republicans from joining their respective caucuses.
The latest to experience this snub is Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX).
Not Happening
Flores flipped a longtime blue seat red in a recent special election.
When she tried to join the Hispanic caucus, she was told no.
She stated, "As the first Mexican-born American Congresswoman, I thought the Hispanic Caucus would be open to working together.
"This denial once again proves a bias towards conservative Latinas that don't fit their narrative or ideology."
The group has defended itself by changing its bylaws.
The CHC stated, "Per our bylaws, the CHC is now for Democratic Members.
"Rep. Flores' extreme MAGA values and their attacks on Latinos and our nation's democracy on January 6 do not align with CHC values."
The purpose of these congressional caucuses used to be for members to work across the aisle to address the needs of their demographics, but I guess that is no longer the case.
Now you either fall in line and drink the Kool-Aid or the door stays closed.
