Larry Hogan Launches Maryland Senate Bid

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has announced that he has designs on a place in the federal legislature.

Hogan launched a new commercial announcing his surprise bid for Senate.

He shared the video on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“We desperately need leaders willing to stand up to both parties — leaders that appreciate that no one of us has all the answers or all the power, because this is not just about the differences between the right and the left. This is about the difference between right and wrong,” Hogan said.

The Senate has been rife with controversy in terms of its future leadership of late, and therefore it will be interesting to see how Hogan's bid will be received.

Up until recently, many were unsure whether Hogan would throw his hat into the ring.

Hogan has dropped hints in the past, however, even recently telling The Hill’s Kevin Cirilli, that “I guess you’d say there’s a crack in the door.”

“It’s not something I’m seeking. I really have no interest whatsoever in running a suicide mission or in being a spoiler or — you know, electing Donald Trump or Joe Biden. I didn’t completely slam the door to it,” Hogan continued in the interview.

Many have accepted the news of Hogan running with total joy.

Maeve Coyle, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson, is not one of those people.

In a recent statement Coyle said that “a vote for Republican Larry Hogan is a vote to make Mitch McConnell Majority Leader and turn the Senate over to Republicans so they can pass a national abortion ban.”

“Democrats have won every statewide federal election in Maryland for 44 years and 2024 will be no different,” Coyle continued.
