Labor Day Massacre: 4 Dead on Train After Gunman Opens Fire in Chicago

Labor Day was solemn in Chicago after another mass shooting was reported in a city and state that features some of the toughest gun laws in the country.

Early Monday morning, police were alerted to a mass shooting in Cook County around 5:30 a.m.

According to local reports, three people were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Tragedy on a Holiday

Chicago always seems to ramp up the violence over holiday weekends during the summer.

Last month, I even warned about a possible uptick after authorities had the city on lockdown during the Democrat National Convention.

Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins noted that the train station has recently been the subject of a slew of emergency phone calls.

Hoskins stated, "It’s a horrible tragedy that four people are dead on Labor Day weekend.

"Our police department and our fire department respond to this location probably more than any other location in our jurisdiction."

There was not much information published about the incident (surprise), but we do know the suspect fled the scene after the shooting and was found later on a CTA Pink Line train, which is where the suspect was arrested.

After the arrest, Forest Park Police Department Deputy Chief Chris Chin stated, "A weapon was recovered.

"There is no immediate threat. This appears to be an isolated incident on this unfortunate day."

The Chicago Transportation Authority (CTA) added, "This heinous and egregious act of violence should never have occurred, nonetheless on a public transit train.”

This is what happens when you coddle criminals, regardless of your gun laws.

When you have no cash bail, refuse to prosecute criminals, and try to find reasons to open up jail cells, not to mention welcome illegal immigrants, bad things happen to good people.

And yes, I know crimes happen in every city, but the number of violent crimes in our major cities, most of which are run by Democrats, is simply unacceptable.

Sadly, that will not change anytime soon because voters in these big cities continue to elect Democrats to office.
