The Biden administration recently made some comments that have not aged very well.
Biden's recent comments in Hanoi, Vietnam, are at the top of that list.
John Kirby, the National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, was recently drilled on these comments.
Didn’t Age Well
When Biden was in Vietnam last month, he claimed that climate change was the “only” existential threat we faced.
He stated, "The only existential threat humanity faces – even more frightening than a nuclear war – is global warming; going above 1.5 degrees in the next 10 years.”
A statement that aged even worse was from National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
Less than two weeks ago, Sullivan stated, "I emphasize for now, because all of that can change, and the Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades."
Kirby was asked if Joe Biden now stands by the comments he recently made.
Kirby responded, "Absolutely he does. Climate change is an existential threat. It actually threatens and is capable of wiping out all human life on earth over time."
He added, "The president believes wholeheartedly that climate change is an existential threat to all of human life on the planet. That's just science… But it doesn't mean that we turn our back on the other challenges facing this country and our allies and partners around the world.”
The statement is utterly ridiculous when you consider the hostile events that have taken place recently.
Kirby was also asked about the money that was freed up for Iran.
He responded, "They never get to touch it or feel it or spend it. It goes to approved vendors that we approve to get in medical supplies and food and water to the Iranian people.”
So, he is basically saying they do not believe that Iran will have one of these approved vendors tap into the cash, and then take it from them.
Kirby did note that the Biden administration would not hesitate to freeze these assets if need be. Well, I would say a war with an ally is a very real need to freeze them again.
