King Charles is struggling to evict Prince Andrew from Royal Lodge

Prince Andrew is refusing to leave his Royal Lodge mansion despite King Charles' order for him to vacate the property.

This is according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The big question is "Why?"

The answer is not immediately clear, which has led to widespread speculation.

Two possibilities

There has been a lot of speculation that this all has to do with Prince Andrew's links to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The reader may remember that, in 2022, Andrew reached a £12 million settlement with Virginia Giuffree after she claimed that he sexually assaulted her when she was only 17. Andrew has vehemently denied this. The settlement stopped a lawsuit that Giufree had brought against Andrew from going forward.

Many believe that this could have something to do with Charles' attempt to evict Andrew from Royal Lodge.

The Daily Mail reports, "It was reported that Andrew, who was forced to quit royal duties over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, was told he would have to leave the property before being granted 'a stay of execution.'"

Not everyone, however, is sold on this explanation. Another possibility, suggested in a separate Daily Mail report, is that Charles wants the property vacated so that, at some point in the future, Queen Camilla can move into it. But, this also has not been confirmed.

Andrew's refusal to leave

Whatever the reason for Charles' order for Andrew to vacate the property, the fact is that Charles has given the order and, thus far, Andrew has refused to obey it. Andrew, according to reports, is so desperate to hold on to the property that he is unwilling to vacate it even for necessary repairs that need to be done.

Fox News reports, "Royal Lodge has been spotted with white paint chipping away from its walls, dirt marks straining the facade, and cracks in the brickwork."

It appears that many of these problems have resulted from the fact that Andrew is no longer able to pay for the yearly $500,000 upkeep costs on the mansion.

Andrew is even refusing to leave the mansion during the roof repairs that are scheduled to take place later this year for fear that he might not be let back in.

Charles, to be clear, is not trying to make Andrew homeless. Rather, he wants Andrew to move to Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle used to live. It appears, though, that Andrew believes that this would be too much of a downgrade.
