Kevin McCarthy’s Brutal Attack Against Rep. Matt Gaetz

Speaker Emeritus Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) really does have an ax to grind with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

Gaetz, as you surely know, was behind the ouster of McCarthy as Speaker.

Now, he is hell-bent on bringing charges up against Gaetz for having allegedly slept with underage women.

On the Attack

McCarthy was on CNN this week, appearing on “Inside Politics With Manu Raju.”

The former Speaker came out firing when asked why he was backing a primary challenger against Gaetz.

McCarthy responded, “No, I just don‘t think Gaetz is a conservative. I mean, if you think about it, if there‘s anybody who should go to trial, I mean, Gaetz is one who should be convicted in a trial.”

When asked why he thought that, McCarthy responded, “Well, we all know the challenger. You can’t sleep with underage women and think you can get away with it.”

Gaetz has never been indicted on this, but a woman does claim that Gaetz was at a “drug-fueled party” in 2017, where Gaetz allegedly engaged in sexual activity with an underage girl.

When Raju noted that Gaetz had and continues to deny the allegations, McCarthy stated, “Well, the women don‘t and so there‘s people in jail because of it. I think that‘s a place where people should have a court.

“I just don‘t think that is an individual [who] should be represented in Congress, I don‘t think the constituents would want that either.”

I understand why McCarthy is still upset, but the fact of the matter is that McCarthy and his cockiness are the reason he was ousted… Gaetz was only the vehicle that allowed it to happen.

This, to me, is a really bad look for McCarthy and if he is wrong, my guess is that Gaetz will soon be slapping him with a defamation suit.

That, however, would mean that Gaetz would have to prove that he never slept with the underage girl, and I am just not sure how he can possibly do that without tracking down the alleged girl and having her testify to that fact.

That does not seem likely since the allegations have already been levied against Gaetz.
