Kennedy will stop placing migrant children in alleged abusive shelters

Over the last decade, we have heard horror stories about the ordeals of unaccompanied migrant children coming into this country.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy is hoping to end some of that.

According to reports, Kennedy has stated that he will make sure these migrant children are no longer placed in shelters where reports of alleged abusive behavior have been reported.

Protecting the Children

One of the issues at the border that I have been calling on our government to fix for years has been the problem of unaccompanied children.

First and foremost, there is a major safety issue for a young child traveling over the border like this.

Second, there is the issue of human trafficking and sweatshops, where some of these children fall.

Third, there has been a slew of reports these children are often targeted for abuse at shelters, which is what Kennedy hopes to address.

Texas-based Southwest Key Programs Inc. runs 27 shelters across Texas, Arizona, and California to house unaccompanied alien children in the United States.

This company has received billions of taxpayer dollars during the Biden administration to house these children.

Last year, reports surfaced that children were being subject to sexual abuse in these shelters from staffers, which led to the DOJ filing a lawsuit.

Now, Kennedy is officially pulling the program, stating, This administration is working fearlessly to end the tragedy of human trafficking and other abuses of unaccompanied alien children who enter the country illegally.

“For too long, pernicious actors have exploited such children both before and after they enter the United States. Today’s action is a significant step toward ending this appalling abuse of innocents.”

Attorney General Pamela Bondi added, “Securing our border and protecting children from abuse are among the most critical missions of the Department of Justice and the Trump administration, under the border policies of the previous administration, bad actors were incentivized to exploit children and break our laws: this ends now.”

Southwest Key has since announced that it will be furloughing 5,000 staffers nationwide… it’s hard to pay the bills once that federal paycheck has gone away.

According to reports, the Biden administration averaged more than 117,000 referrals per year to house unaccompanied migrant children. Compare that to less than 16,000 issued by the Trump administration during his last year in office.

Something absolutely needs to be done to stop this from continuing to happen, and I am hoping that the Trump administration manages to get this issue under control, or human traffickers and abusers will continue to hurt these children.
