Kari Lake says her days of campaigning for elected office are over

Running for elected office in the United States is an arduous, often cutthroat undertaking, and according to recent reports, one prominent Republican is ready to bow out of the process once and for all.

Former television personality Kari Lake, who has mounted unsuccessful runs to become Arizona governor and a U.S. senator, recently declared that she does not plan to office from her home state again, as Just the News reports.

Lake bows out

After losing races for both high-profile offices in recent years, Lake took to X to explain her decision to exit the campaign trail for good.

Lake wrote, “We know the movement that we have in Arizona, and I will never take that for granted.”

Referencing the bitter opposition and obstacles she has faced in her electoral bids, she added, “But there is a corrupt machine here that is hellbent on making sure I never hold office.”

“So, I won't put my family (and myself) through the torture of running again,” Lake stated, adding that she will redirect her efforts to a new role to which she has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump, namely, that of helping le government-funded news outlet Voice of America (VOA).

New role awaits

As Just the News noted separately, Trump tapped Lake for the VOA role after her recent defeat in a battle with Reuben Gallego for the open Senate seat from Arizona.

“I'm pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as our next Director of the Voice of America,” Trump said on Truth Social.

Trump added, “She will be appointed by, and work closely with, our next head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, who I will announce soon, to ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the lies spread by the Fake News Media.”

Lake is prepared to begin her new job with gusto, declaring, as CBS News reported, that she has no plans to transform VOA into “MAGA TV,” but simply wishes to bring about a return to politically unbiased reporting.

The priority, says Lake, is to help VOA reporters do “really quality, top-notch broadcasting and focus on great journalism, asking questions, and making sure that the journalists know that they're independent journalists,” and that is a valiant mission everyone should be able to get behind.
