Kamala Harris was just FEET from pipe bomb on Jan. 6: Report

The U.S. Secret Service doesn't exactly have the best reputation right now, so is it really a surprise to learn that Kamala Harris was in some serious danger while under their protection?

A new report suggests that Vice President Kamala Harris came within 20 feet of a pipe bomb when she was at the Democratic National Committee headquarters on Jan. 6, 2021.

Regardless of what you think about the Biden administration, there's no doubt that Jan. 6 would be an even darker day in this nation's history if the then-vice president-elect had been blown up.

Authorities still say they don't know who did it, but an individual placed pipe bombs outside of both the Democratic National Committee headquarters and the Republican National Committee headquarters on the night of Jan. 5, 2021.

Secret Service canine units were sent to clear the premises for Kamala Harris' arrival, but the dogs were not able to detect the pipe bombs.

Harris traveled from the Capitol to the DNC headquarters a few hours before the riot. According to the report, Harris probably passed within 20 feet of the bomb while she was entering the headquarters through a ramp. She stayed in the building for one hour and 40 minutes.

The report added that it's possible that the bombs would have been detected if Harris had been the active vice president at the time instead of the VP-elect.

Apparently, the Secret Service didn't have as intense of protections in place for the officials who had been elected but had not yet assumed office.

According to the Washington Examiner, "the Secret Service had not used all of the explosive detection tactics and measures for its sweep of the DNC headquarters due to a lack of adequate policies for the president and vice president-elect. The pipe bomb was ultimately discovered by two plainclothes U.S. Capitol Police officers."

The report said, "Two USCP plainclothes agents who were searching the DNC building after a similar device was discovered at the Republican National Committee building ultimately discovered the pipe bomb 1 hour and 40 minutes after the Vice President-elect’s arrival. The two USCP agents notified the Secret Service, who then evacuated the Vice President-elect from the DNC building."

Despite the pipe bombs never detonating, their placement and the story behind them have baffled investigators for years.

How did they get there?

How weren't they detected?

David Sundberg, assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, said that the FBI has been investigating this for literally years.

"Over the past three years, a dedicated team of FBI agents, analysts, data scientists, and law enforcement partners has worked thousands of hours conducting interviews, reviewing physical and digital evidence, and assessing tips from the public about who may have placed pipe bombs on Capitol Hill," he noted.

No matter which side of the aisle you're on, I'm sure you'll agree that it's time for the Secret Service to start doing its job.
