Kamala Harris given 'hypocrite' label after CA grocery shopping trip

Liberal politicians are often critiqued for what appears as a “do as I say, not as I do” approach to life, and a recent story involving a very prominent Democrat politician only adds fuel to that fire.

As the Daily Mail reports, former Vice President Kamala Harris made a particularly egregious faux pax last week when she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were seen committing what most staunch environmentalists view as a cardinal sin during a shopping excursion in California.

Plastic not-so fantastic

The controversy erupted when Harris, accompanied by Emhoff, ventured out for a bit of grocery shopping after a busy -- and likely difficult -- week that included the inauguration of her 2024 presidential election rival, Donald Trump.

According to reports, the pair visited the 99 Ranch Market Asian Grocery in Westwood, and it was there that they were seen engaging in behavior certain to draw the ire of left-wing Democrats everywhere.

As they made their way to the checkout counter and out of the store, observers took note of the fact that the Harris-Emhoffs were toting -- of all things -- plastic shopping bags, the same item environmentalists have sought to ban due to the supposed harms they cause to the ecosystem.

Given that Harris herself even endorsed a plastic bag ban back in 2019, the reactions that poured in after her shopping trip were particularly scathing.

“WTF? Is that Kamala Harris toting a #plastic bag of groceries??” one commentator wrote. “What an out-of-touch HYPOCRITE with zero self-awareness!”

Rumors of marital rift emerge

The plastic bag controversy is not the only public relations dilemma facing the former vice president these days as rumors have recently emerged about a possible marital rift that could end in divorce.

As the Mail reported separately, insiders have suggested that the Harris-Emhoff marriage is in an especially fragile state at present due to the role the former vice president believes her husband played in her failed campaign against Trump.

“There's plenty of blame to go around as far as Kamala is concerned, and Doug has his share,” a source said, referencing the scandals that emerged about the then-second gentleman's past infidelity in his first marriage and assault allegations from a former girlfriend.

The insider added, “Doug did Kamala no favors during the election – frankly, he looked like a hypocritical a** after the bombshells that he had got his child's nanny pregnant while married to his first wife and assaulted his ex-girlfriend on the heels of his 'I am woman' crusade.”

With scuttlebutt emerging that Emhoff has accepted a job in New York as Harris plots a potential gubernatorial run in California, there may well be some truth to the notion that the spouses may be poised to go their separate ways, but only time will tell.
