Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, have made the decision.
They're separating.
The couple has been married for over 18 years, and the union produced three children.
"Hi everyone," Justin Trudeau said. "Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate." The prime minister continued:
As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build.
He then demanded that nobody ask any questions about the situation to protect the safety "of his children."
I see the crooks in Canada are just as bad as the ones in America! It's pretty shameful that Trudeau would put his kids in between him and the public and use them as a wall to avoid being held accountable.
The prime minister's office also released an official statement:
Sophie and the Prime Minister have signed a legal separation agreement. They have worked to ensure that all legal and ethical steps with regards to their decision to separate have been taken, and will continue to do so moving forward.
The official statement from the government added that the Trudeau family remains "a close family and Sophie and the Prime Minister are focused on raising their kids in a safe, loving and collaborative environment. Both parents will be a constant presence in their children’s lives and Canadians can expect to often see the family together."
