Justice Sotomayor Questions Raise Serious Concerns

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has again made statements that have many on the right wondering how this woman ever made it to the bench.

This time, it was during oral arguments in U.S. v. Skrmetti.

This is a case originating in Tennessee over specific healthcare being provided to youth.

Like an Aspirin

The main question here is regarding restrictions for youth, which has since been focused on transgender care being provided to children.

During oral arguments, she likened transgender medical products to aspirin, which is utterly ridiculous.

Sotomayor stated, "Every medical treatment has a risk, even taking aspirin.

"There's always going to be a percentage of the population under any medical treatment that's going to suffer a harm.

“So, the question in my mind is not, 'do policymakers decide whether one person's life is more valuable than the millions of others who get relief from this treatment?'"

Sotomayor was responding to the ban put in place by Tennessee Solicitor General Matthew Rice on transgender medical care for minors. The particular issue being addressed is how harmful these drugs can be to children who later decide to detransition after realizing they are not really transgenders.

All three liberal justices appear to be leaning toward lifting the ban, which is not surprising.

For some reason, liberals welcome the idea of a child who is not old enough to be left at home by themselves to make the decision to change their gender.

Chief Justice Roberts, who usually has a Trump-appointed justice follow him, appears to be leaning toward upholding the ban and allowing this to play out in the legislature.

If Roberts sides in favor of the ban, my best guess is that no more than one of Trump’s justices will walk across the aisle, leaving the ban in place.

I know this is a touchy subject, but I stand firmly on the side of transition drugs only being made available to non-minors.

There is simply no way a 10-year-old child is capable of making this decision, especially when we have liberal teachers suggesting their gender is wrong because they play with dolls or wear an odd color.

How about we allow kids to grow up before making such a decision?

Having the kids put the transition on hold does no physical harm, but that is obviously not the case if they change their mind down the road after having taken these drugs.

It's just common sense.
