The Justice Department considered allowing the FBI to monitor the search for classified documents in President Joe Biden's home, according to a new report.
The decision was eventually made against including the FBI and instead involving a special counsel.

"Three batches of classified documents were found on Biden's property in recent months: one at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., and two at his Wilmington, Delaware, property," Fox News reported.
"But the FBI was not present as documents were recovered, and no raids have been conducted, which sources familiar with the matter told the Journal was because Biden's lawyers turned over the documents quickly and continued to cooperate with the Justice Department in the investigation," it added.

The Wall Street Journal originally reported the Justice Department's account.
"Mr. Biden's legal team prepared to search his other properties for any similar documents, and discussed with the Justice Department the prospect of having FBI agents present while Mr. Biden's lawyers conducted the additional searches," the report said.
"Instead, the two sides agreed that Mr. Biden's personal attorneys would inspect the homes, notify the Justice Department as soon as they identified any other potentially classified records, and arrange for law-enforcement authorities to take them," the report added.
House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) previously issued a statement after Robert Hur was appointed as special counsel to investigate Biden's classified documents.
"With or without a special counsel, the House Oversight and Accountability Committee will investigate President Biden's mishandling of classified documents and the Swamp's efforts to hide this information from the American people," Comer wrote.
"There are many questions about why the Biden Administration kept this matter a secret from the public," he continued.
The House will certainly have its hands full with the new investigation, alongside other ongoing investigations regarding Hunter Biden, COVID-19's origins and the border crisis.
