Justice Barret Supports Code of Ethics for Supreme Court

Over the last few months, a lot of allegations have been tossed around regarding the actions of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Mind you, his actions at the time fell within the rules of the current ethics for a SCOTUS justice.

Democrats want that changed, and Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett supports the idea.

New Code

I am all for a code of ethics, but it should not be a political statement by out-of-control Democrats who fail to look at the same "violations" by liberal justices.

This is the highest court in the land, and the standards should be high, but you cannot condemn someone for breaking rules that were not in place at the time the act took place, and that is what Democrats are doing with Thomas.

They hate him because he is a black conservative, period, and powerful, a deadly combination that threatens them.

Justice Barrett has no problem with a new code, stating, "I think it would be a good idea for us to do it, particularly so that we can communicate to the public exactly what it is that we are doing in a clearer way than perhaps we have been able to do so far.”

I think most people would agree that of all people, Supreme Court justices should not have carte blanche to do whatever they want without repercussions.

In fact, no formal code is why we are even having this discussion in the first place.

But again, let’s be honest here and not just put Thomas into the conversation. I always go back to Justice Ginsburg and the staggering number of trips she took on the cuff, one from a donor who previously had a case that was won on the Supreme Court.

If that was not a reward, I have no idea what is.

If I had my way about, Justices and sitting members of Congress would not be permitted to write books, attend donor functions, or even have public speaking engagements, all of which are ways to for people to funnel money to them.

They all claim they are devoted to a life of public service, but does anyone think these people would be taking these jobs if it were not for all the perks they get?

Allow the Supreme Court to write the code, but let’s make sure we hold both sides to the code, not just point out when conservatives may have stepped over the line, as the media tends to do all the time.

If you were to believe the mainstream media, Democrats are all angels, you know, like Senator Robert Menendez (D-N.J.).
