Julie Andrews' Fellow 'Mary Poppins' Star Passes Away At Age 100

Glynis Johns, the actress who played the iconic role of Mrs. Banks in the classic film Mary Poppins has passed away at the age of 100.

Rest in peace.

Before landing the role in the famous film, Johns grew up in the Union of South Africa. She was born in 1923, the daughter of Mervyn Johns, who was also an actor.

Before entering the world of acting, Johns actually started out as a dancer.

Johns earned her first-ever role in the film South Riding in 1938. However, the star first shot to fame back in 1941 after earning a role in the film 49th Parallel, a drama about World War II.

The actress went on to star in 60 additional movies and 30 plays during her acting career.

Some of Johns' performances, like The Sundowners, even lead her to an Oscar nomination.

It would be more than 20 years before between the actress’ first role in 49th Parallel to her role in Mary Poppins, released in 1964.

It is proof that hard work and dedication truly pays off if you believe in your dreams and are willing to put in the hours.

Glynis Johns was one of the last living members of the “Golden Age of Hollywood.”

There aren’t a lot of people who get to say they accomplished so much during their time on earth.

Even fewer people get to say they were lucky enough to live 100 years.

However, it is never easy losing a loved one, and we hope that any family members or friends of Glynis Johns were able to take peace and comfort knowing the star lived a long and fulfilled life.
