Well, guess what my friends… those decreased numbers from June that Biden was touting may have not been completely accurate.
Fans of "The Wire" remember how police officials were regularly "juking" their crime states.
If a recent report on Just the News is accurate, that is what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been doing with its migrant numbers after interdiction by US Customs and Border Protection.
Juking the Stats
Numbers, as we know, can be made to look however the person releasing those numbers wants them to look.
In this case, it would appear that DHS may not be truly forthcoming with all of the migrants that are coming over the border.
Andrew Arthur, who served for eight years as an immigration judge at the now-closed immigration court in York, PA, was the one who broke the story for Just the News.
He stated, "The only reason why ICE and OFO [Office of Field Operations] would refuse to disclose that information is to hide the fact that it is releasing more than 100,000 aliens per month into the United States, and to conceal the effects of those migrant releases on communities across the United States."
Since the decision in Texas v. Biden was vacated, the administration has not been sharing this data.
This was the case to keep the Remain in Mexico policy in place.
On that front, Arther stated that DHS "can provide the American people with statistics on the tens of thousands of illegal entrants that CBP encounters at the southwest border whom DHS releases" into the U.S. The agency has "refused to do so since those orders were vacated in August 2022."
Rep. Darrell Issa's (R-CA) office added that it is "obvious why the Biden Admin does everything it can to minimize transparency."
The consistent number of migrants that appears to be missing from the reports that we see are how many migrants that are encountered that are then released, but as noted above, since that decision was vacated, those numbers have been kept secret.
Arthur added, "When ICE was under a court order in Texas, it did release that information, so it plainly keeps the statistics."
This information will eventually come out because Biden will not be able to protect the information after he gets booted from the White House.
I think we would all prefer those numbers to come out before that, however, but with Democrats in charge of the Senate, we would need a few Democrats or Independents to vote with the GOP to pass legislation that would force these numbers to be published.
