Judge Sets Migrants Arrested at El Paso Border for Rioting Free

About two weeks ago, the situation at the border was literally set on fire.

Dozens of migrants overran the border, setting a portion of the border fencing on fire, rushing agents and troops that were guarding the border at El Paso.

An El Paso judge has somehow decided to set some of them free, which I would guarantee has Trump seething and will eventually be a talking point of his campaign.

Let Them Go

The pictures of the incident were horrifying, but the White House refused to take responsibility for the riot by the migrants.

It was a replay of the old tape, blaming everything on Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the Trump administration.

In reality, it is the fact these migrants know that they are pretty much guaranteed to remain in the country after being taken into custody, to the point they have no fear at all anymore.

This led to that ugly incident at the border and about a dozen migrants being arrested in the first wave, and more being arrested a few days later.

Seeing the violence in the videos, one would think that presiding Magistrate Judge Humberto Acosta would have ordered them held, but that was not the case.

Apparently, the El Paso DA’s office is a bit of a mess, which is what Acosta cited as the reason for ordering the release of some of the migrants.

It was reported that Acosta made the decision to release them because the DA’s office was not ready to move forward with detention hearings for the migrants.

Acosta stated, “It is the ruling of the court that all the rioting participation cases will be released on their own recognizance.”

Now, we all know what happens when these migrants are released like this… they simply disappear and get lost in the system.

The DA’s office tried to rectify the situation by asking for a hearing at a later date, but that motion was denied by Acosta.

When the DA made the request, Acosta stated, “So if the DA’s office is telling me that they are not ready to go, what we’re going to do is we’re going to release all these individuals on their own recognizance.”

Sadly, this is likely only the first wave of releases, as dozens more migrants were arrested after that first round of arrests after they were identified by authorities.

My guess is that most of them will be freed as well since the El Paso DA’s office does not have its act together.

Just another failure by our Justice Department that seems more intent on weaponizing the DA and pushing Biden’s agenda than it is in keeping the scales of justice leveled.
