Judge McAfee Will Hear Arguments to Disqualify Fani Willis from Trump Case

Donald Trump has been trying to get Fulton County DA Fani Willis kicked off the RICO case she brought against him for weeks.

Thanks to a ruling by Judge McAfee, he just got one step closer.

McAfee has agreed to hear arguments that Willis may be disqualified from the case due to a conflict of interest.

Problems for Willis

Over the last few weeks, legal experts have been opining on how the relationship that Willis had with Nathan Wade, one of her special prosecutors, has impacted the case.

One of Donald Trump’s co-defendants, Michael Roman, has filed suit on this, recently filing again to have her disqualified from the case.

Willis’ legal team responded, “The defense is not bringing you facts. The defense is not bringing you law.

“The defense is bringing you gossip, and the state cannot — and the court should not — condone that practice.”

McAfee, however, was not having it, ruling, “Because I think it’s possible that the facts alleged by the defendant could result in disqualification, I think an evidentiary hearing must occur to establish the record on those core allegations.”

His wording is far from conceding a ruling of disqualification, but he is at least hearing the motion, which is far more than we have seen from other judges in these cases.

If, by some chance, McAfee does rule to disqualify her, this case will be in shambles.

Keep in mind, this is happening in addition to noise being made about Willis being removed from her post.

In addition to these allegations, Willis has been accused of misusing funds by a whistleblower, and there are apparently more lining up to testify against her.

If either of these efforts pans out, it is hard to imagine another attorney coming in without there being serious delays to the case, if that prosecutor even wants to try the case at that point.

As was noted the other day, this is quickly becoming a war of attrition, and it is one that Donald Trump is winning right now.
