We have been waiting to see how Judge Chutkan would respond to all of the comments that Trump has been making in public about Special Counsel Jack Smith and herself.
Well, she just responded.
Donald Trump now has a partial gag order that will block him from making statements that target all court personnel, witnesses, Special Counsel Jack Smith, and his staff.
This is now the second gag order that has been placed against Trump related to his court cases.
Just Shut Up
Donald Trump has been trying to bully his way through these court cases, but it is just not going to work.
Had he dialed down the aggression a bit, he still could have discussed the case on social media channels and in the media. This, however, could be Trump’s strategy… go overboard, get a gag order, then protest that his First Amendment rights were violated as a way to try to have the decision reversed if he loses the case.
In issuing the gag order, Judge Chutkan chided Trump for attacking court members, concluding, “No other criminal defendant would be allowed to do so, and I'm not going to allow it in this case.”
A Trump spokesperson responded to the order, stating, "Today’s decision is an absolute abomination and another partisan knife stuck in the heart of our Democracy by Crooked Joe Biden, who was granted the right to muzzle his political opponent, the leading candidate for the Presidency in 2024, and the most popular political leader in America, President Donald J. Trump.
"President Trump will continue to fight for our Constitution, the American people’s right to support him, and to keep our country free of the chains of weaponized and targeted law enforcement.”
Trump also has a gag order against him in the New York fraud case being tried by Attorney General Letitia James.
After having posted rumors that a court clerk was Senator Chuck Schumer’s “girlfriend,” Judge Engoron issued a partial gag order on Trump preventing him from attacking members of the court.
