Judge blocks mass firing at agencies by Trump administration

Donald Trump is again facing challenges to his presidential authority.

Trump’s quest to remove federal workers via mass firings has been challenged.

U.S. District Judge William Alsup has halted the firings, saying the Office of Personnel Management did not have the authority to make such a call.

Blocked Again

One of Trump's big moves was firing all probationary employees, most of whom had worked for less than a year in their respective departments.

Democrats and the media have pushed back on the firings, even saying they are illegal, and challenges to the firings were then made in court.

Alsup is a Clinton-appointed judge, so this decision was fairly easy to predict, but it will still have to go through the Supreme Court, so I would not be too upset about the ruling just yet.

In his ruling regarding the probationary employees, he stated, "Probationary employees are the lifeblood of our government. They come in at a low level and work their way up. That's how we renew ourselves.”

We must also remember this order is only temporary while Alsup considers all arguments, so the case is not even over at this level yet.

Musk has been tasked with finding at least $1 trillion in cuts to offset the upcoming budget deficit, but there are now questions as to how much the government can save by cutting jobs.

They are also going to have to cut some programs and benefits, which is what Democrats are jumping all over.

Trump has been adamant that he will not cut Medicaid benefits, but House Minority Leader Jeffries (D-N.Y.) continues to insist the GOP is lying and we are going to see the largest cuts in history to the program.

Trump has fired back that the only cuts that will be made are eliminating fraud.

Trump explained that he wants the roles audited to ensure there are no dead people receiving benefits as well as stripping benefits for illegal immigrants, which I fully support.

We all know there is government fat, and I have railed against our government being the biggest employer in the country for years, having roughly three million people on the payroll.

We have over 400 government agencies right now, quite a few of them being redundant, so there is clearly fat to be trimmed.

But let’s also be realistic about programs being funded in omnibus legislation that most of us have never ever heard about.

Look at all the partisan programs that were being funded by USAID, of which some Republicans signed off, mostly because few of them actually read the legislation they are voting on, either because they don’t care or they never had enough time before the vote was floored.

The entire system needs to be trashed and rebuilt, and my hope is that this administration does exactly that.
