Journalist Pleads Not Guilty to 4 Jan. 6 Charges

An investigative journalist from Blaze News, Steven Baker, was arrested and charged with four separate misdemeanors for his decision to look for the truth about what really happened on the day of the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol unrest.

Baker has now pleaded NOT GUILTY.

The charges to which Baker has pleaded not guilty include entering a restricted building without the authority to do so, disorderly conduct in a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a capitol building, and picketing/demonstrating in a capitol building.

Since Baker’s arrest, the internet has stormed to his defense.

His arrest has even gained the attention of big names like Rep. Barry Loudermilk who have been advocating for Baker.

Since Baker has pleaded not guilty, he has provided a statement to Blaze News, explaining the thoughts going through his head.

One of those thoughts was on the “most interesting moment” in the hearing.

“The most interesting moment in yesterday’s hearing came when my attorney addressed the discovery, protective order issues, and my unique access to all this information through congressional committees. Judge Cooper asked, 'What does Mr. Baker do for a living?' My attorney William Shipley replied, 'He’s a journalist with Blaze Media.' Cooper seemed genuinely surprised to learn that, and I was genuinely surprised that the government had not already informed him of my occupation,” Baker said.

Despite how insane it is that Baker’s occupation was not disclosed to the judge ahead of time, Baker said he is “quite surprised and pleased by the cooperative nature the government has shown” and went on to compliment “their willingness to modify language due to my unique circumstances as a working journalist.”

“Unlike all other J6 defendants, I have no travel restrictions — even to D.C. or internationally — and the government is working with my attorneys to modify the language of certain restrictions that would interfere with my ongoing investigations … even those about certain governmental agencies’ corruption,” Baker continued.

No other information has been released on Baker’s trial at this time.

What do you think should happen to Baker?
