Jordan Files Subpoena Against Company Run by Judge Merchan’s Daughter

Ever since Judge Juan Merchan has been assigned to Donald Trump’s business fraud case, there have been questions about a possible conflict of interest.

Merchan’s daughter works for a company called Authentic Campaigns, which works with many high-profile Democrats, including Governors Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer, as well as Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Now, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) is out for blood, subpoenaing records from Authentic Campaigns to help Donald Trump prove there is a conflict of interest here.

Big Money

Reports have been all over the place regarding how much money Loren Merchan and Authentic Campaigns have made pushing Trump’s legal problems.

The company has pulled in tens of millions of dollars, seeing a huge increase in revenue since this case started.

That is coming into question due to the fact that a lot of the campaigns Loren Merchan has been running for Democrats have focused on Trump’s legal issues, specifically the case that her father is presiding over.

Jordan has requested that the founder of Authentic Campaigns, Michael Nellis, provide his committee with documentation on this subject, but Nellis has declined multiple times.

Jordan wrote, "As such, the Committee is left with no choice but to resort to compulsory process. Popularly elected prosecutors, such as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, have engaged in an unprecedented abuse of authority by prosecuting a former President of the United States and current nominee for that office.

“Of relevance to the Committee’s oversight is the impartiality of Judge Juan Merchan, the presiding trial judge, due to his refusal to recuse himself from the case in light of his apparent conflicts of interest and biases.

"One such conflict is Ms. Merchan’s — daughter of Judge Merchan and President of Authentic Campaigns — work on behalf of President Trump’s political adversaries and the possible financial benefit that Ms. Merchan and Authentic Campaigns received from the prosecution and conviction of President Trump."

Jordan later added, "During Ms. Merchan’s employment with the Harris campaign, Authentic Campaigns received over $7 million in compensation for its services.

“You also worked for then-presidential candidate Harris and it appears you continue to do so. Authentic Campaigns conducted work for the 2020 Biden-Harris campaign and, according to public records, was paid just over $2 million in a one-month period for its work.”

Nellis, of course, denies any wrongdoing, stating, "Let us be clear: these allegations against our company are completely false and purely politically motivated. This is a blatant attempt to intimidate us and divert attention from Donald Trump’s conviction.

“We refuse to be bullied, and we will not allow House Republicans or MAGA extremists to spread lies about our work. We remain steadfast in our mission and are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our friends and family during this time."

Now, you guys know I do not like investigations for political points, but I am very curious to see what Jordan comes up with here.

I have always believed there was a clear conflict of interest in this case, and I would love for Jordan to be able to prove it.

It will not get Trump out of the suit, but it could be a reason for a mistrial, a new judge, and hopefully, a fair shake for Trump.
