Johnny Depp’s Daughter Says She Was ‘Traumatized’ by His Films

Lily-Rose Depp just had a blockbuster film released as one of the major stars of the film.

The movie, “Nosferatu,” is a new take on Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

If you have seen the movie, as I have, you may think her comments about being traumatized by her father’s movies are a bit shocking.

Not What You Think

Depp has had some interesting roles in his career, but his daughter, Lily-Rose, says the role of "Edward Scissorhands” scarred her a bit.

It was not the movie itself, but how people treated and reacted to her father’s role that left her upset.

She stated, "I was traumatized by it," Depp told Harper's Bazaar. "Not because I thought he was scary, but because everyone was being so mean to him, and I got really upset. I remember being petrified by that, which is weird, because I don’t have many memories from when I was that young."

She continued, "It's a difficult childhood memory. Edward's the good guy and Nosferatu's kind of the bad guy, but there's a part of me that feels a little bit of empathy for Nosferatu. I mean, am I sick for feeling that way?"

When asked if she now finds comfort in the genre that made her father a star, she responded, "Sure, I guess you could say so. We’re very different actors, but, of course, you’re the product of your environment, and it’s a world I’ve always been very interested in."

As for the movie itself, I am a big horror fan and have always loved all the Dracula movies.

This was clearly a throwback, and while I never lost interest in the movie, it is not exactly something I would pay to see again (although I will probably watch it when it is streaming).

The costume design and makeup are magnificent, truly capturing the vision of Bram Stroker, but the last scene of the movie will have you regurgitating your popcorn and candy.

Based on her performance in this movie, and she was very good, I have to say that I expect to see a lot more of Lily-Rose in the goth genre, eventually breaking out as her father did.

Time will tell…
