Last week, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre acknowledged that the White House was keeping a close eye on Twitter.
This was not surprising since Elon Musk took over the platform and vowed to expose documents linking the government to censorship.
That data drop actually happened on Friday night, so we cannot wait to see how this plays out with this administration.
Apple, however, is getting a free pass.
Not Our Problem
The National Security Council's coordinator for strategic communications, John Kirby, got roasted by Fox News this week on why there is no concern about Apple.
After all, Apple is working with the Chinese to silence communications among protesters.
If the administration is willing to drop the hammer on Twitter, why is Apple getting a free pass?
Fox News' Martha MacCallum asked why "not call Apple out for helping the Chinese government to suppress their own people's ability to communicate?"
Kirby responded, "Apple is a private company. They have to make decisions, and they have to speak for those decisions. But here at the White House, here in the administration, we want to see that individual citizens, whether they're protesting or not … are able to communicate freely and openly."
MacCallum was baffled, responding, "Twitter is a private company too. So why is Twitter getting one treatment [and] Apple's getting another?"
Kirby then claimed these were "completely two different circumstances."
He continued, "You're talking about the potential for ... foreign investment and involvement in the management of Twitter. That's a different issue than what we're talking about here, which is a business decision by Apple with respect to how one of their applications is being utilized."

The real difference? Apple loves Joe Biden, to the point that CEO Tim Cook was, for some reason, at the big state dinner at the White House for French President Macron.
This administration is flaunting its corruptness right in our face and literally laughing at us.
