Jimmy Carter’s Son Diagnosed with Parkinson’s
The Carter family has had its fair share of tragedy in recent years, and it now is facing yet another hurdle.
The youngest son of former President Jimmy Carter, Jeff, who is 72, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
He has reportedly been living with the condition for years.
Sad Day
Jimmy Carter is usually the one in the news for his health issues, but that changed this week.
Carter has been living in hospice care for quite some time, but he continues to hang on.
Well, now it has been revealed that his son Jeff has been living with Parkinson’s for quite some time, not making a really big deal of it.
His son, Josh, stated, “We know that [Parkinson's] is a one-way street.”
He added, “My dad is currently living by himself, he's able to take care of himself, he's independent, but he built his house knowing that one day he's going to need more help.”
Josh further stated, “He's not very open about it because he doesn't want to be the face of anything.
“It's just, Parkinson's sucks. It's a hard disease. It's a hard diagnosis.”
This is just sad news on the tail end of Carter having turned 100 recently, now the oldest living former president.
Carter has been in hospice care since 2023, entering hospice well before his wife, who passed away soon after she entered hospice care.
Carter is still reportedly in good spirits and his family members reported that he has “perked up” recently.
He is also following the election religiously, recently having endorsed Kamala Harris after Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
Carter is widely considered to be the worst American president in modern history, although Joe Biden will give him a run for his money now.
That, however, will not be his legacy. The work that Carter did after leaving the White House as a diplomat and for the Habitat for Humanity is simply amazing, and that is what people should remember him for.
