Jim Jordan Wants Congress to Defund Trump Prosecutors

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) just made a huge announcement, but it is much ado about nothing.

Jordan is calling on Congress to “defund lawfare activities” of Trump prosecutors.

This is what I like to call show legislation because it has no chance of ever being passed.

Waste of Time

Jordan is targeting Special Counsel Jack Smith, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Jordan’s proposal, in part, stated, “We have conducted oversight of the troubling rise in politicized prosecutions and the use of abusive “lawfare” tactics to target political opponents.

“We have seen rogue prosecutors abuse the rules of professional conduct and their duty to do justice in service of politicized ends.

“We recommend that the Appropriations Committee, with appropriate consultation from leadership, include language to eliminate federal funding for state prosecutors or state attorneys general involved in lawfare and to zero out federal funding for federal prosecutors engaged in such abuse.”

That all sounds great, but in order for that to pass, it would have to get through the House, which is a question with such a razor-thin majority, through the Democrat-run Senate, then signed by Joe Biden.

Tell me… who here thinks Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) would even floor that bill and if he did, if it would pass, and what are the chances Joe Biden signs it if, by some miracle, it does get past the Senate?

Jordan makes great points in that prosecutors like Alvin Bragg campaigned on sending Trump to jail, but that has nothing to do with the legislation's actual chances of being passed.

This is an exercise in futility and a waste of taxpayer dollars so Jim Jordan can show his support for Trump, nothing more.

If Jordan really wants to get something like this passed, he would be far better served fundraising and campaigning for GOP candidates in seats that can be flipped in the Senate and House to ensure the GOP takes back control of Congress.

If that does not happen, all he is doing is blowing smoke and making headlines for himself, as well as showing Trump that he is a loyal soldier.
