Jill Biden Out at Letterman Fundraiser
Sorry, Jill, but you are yesterday’s news.
Now that Joe Biden has dropped out of the race, Jill Biden will no longer get to headline all of those fancy fundraisers.
That duty has now fallen to Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff.
You Are Out
David Letterman has had a big fundraiser for Joe Biden in the works for months.
The fundraiser is going to be held in Nantucket in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts.
But, with Joe Biden now out of the race, it made no sense to have Jill be the star attraction at the event.
So, Emhoff has now been tasked with the duty, and he will surely be touted as possibly making history as the first Second Gentleman as well as now having the opportunity to be the first First Gentleman.
Harris has not yet won the nomination, but the fix is in.
She needs 1,976 delegates to get the nod and more than 2,000 have already confirmed they will vote for her during the roll call next month.
Harris had announced that she wanted to “earn” the nomination, yet she was given the nod less than 48 hours after Joe dropped out without so much as a debate for the candidacy.
The DNC is now going through the motions, telling party members to file by Saturday for consideration, but what is the point after all those delegates have already confirmed they are voting for Harris?
The DNC is going to have a roll call prior to August 7, which is the deadline for candidates to be formally recognized.
The GOP was already threatening to sue because the Democrat convention is not until August 19, two weeks after the deadline.
The DNC's solution was to hold a virtual roll call on the 7th or before to confirm the nomination and then repeat the process during the convention.
