Jill Biden appears in good spirits after lamenting Republican actions toward Hunter

Not long after speaking to MSNBC about how shattered she has been by what she described as Republican attacks on her family, Jill Biden was captured on camera Thursday evening looking as happy as can be while in the company of Democratic mega-donor Jeffrey Katzenberg, as the New York Post reports.

Also grinning from ear to ear during the outing was the beleaguered first son himself, as he exited celebrity haunt Giorgio Baldi with his wife and young son in tow.

Power dinner in L.A.

The high-powered evening outing was apparently centered around discussions with Biden campaign co-chair Katzenberg, former chairman of Disney and former Dreamworks Animation CEO.

Katzenberg recently traveled to Iowa in an effort to contrast Biden with Republican primary contenders, and during the trip, told the hosts of Morning Joe on MSNBC that at least “on the fundraising side,” the president is “kicking butt.”

Definitely one with his own skin in the game, Katzenberg and his wife have reportedly kicked in over $1.7 million of their own resources into the Biden Victory fund.

Hunter joins the party

The first son seemed pleased to join the dinner party, despite what was surely a difficult week filled with unfavorable developments in his various scandals, controversies, and legal troubles.

It was this week that his father's Department of Justice acknowledged that the contents of the infamous laptop were indeed legitimate and matched Hunter's own iCloud data backups, despite Joe Biden's prior claims that the materials were “Russian disinformation.”

Furthermore, prosecutors in his federal firearms case shot back against claims that the matter was driven by undue political influence, noting that cocaine residue had been found on the pouch carrying the weapon that forms the basis of the charges against the first son.

Potentially adding to Hunter's stress is the fact that recent days saw him enter into a belated agreement to sit for a closed-door deposition with House Republicans as part of their impeachment probe of his father.

Mrs. Biden laments

Despite her cheerful visage in California on Thursday night, Jill Biden recently took aim at what she referred to as the “horrible” tactics Republicans are using in their investigation of her stepson.

Speaking to MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski, the first lady said, “I think what they are doing to Hunter is cruel. And I'm really proud of how Hunter has rebuilt his life after addiction.”

She went on, saying, “it's hurt my grandchildren and that's what I'm so concerned about, that it's affecting their lives as well,” but perhaps Hunter is the one who should have considered the likelihood of such fallout when he was engaging in the behaviors that brought him to this most precarious place.
