Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said he believes that he can unite Democrats following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) stepping down from leadership, despite his history of progressive support.
Jeffries shared the comments during an interview on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.

"The thing about us… is that while we can have some noisy conversations at times about how we can make progress for the American people, what we've seen is that under the leadership of Speaker Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Jim Clyburn, we've constantly been able to come together," Jeffries said Sunday during an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," Fox News reported.
"Today, I write to humbly ask for your support for the position of House Democratic Leader as we once again prepare to meet the moment," Jeffries wrote in a letter to fellow House Democrats, according to the report.
"Our Caucus must unify with purpose, communicate with discipline, legislate with precision and partner with the Biden administration to vigorously address the continuing challenges impacting our constituents," the letter added.
RADICAL! Democrat Hakeem Jeffries Jeffries “fully” supports letting NON-CITIZENS vote https://t.co/xwIxPY1WjU

However, the congressman's radical background has included support for far-left New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D). In addition, Jeffries recently approved a New York City bill to allow non-citizens the right to vote.
"The legislation that passed the city council would permit legal permanent residents to be able to vote in municipal elections," Jeffries, told reporters.
"And the law permits a city to make that determination. We, of course, exist in a system of federalism. New York City has made that determination. It's a determination that I fully support.," he added.
The left's newly proposed leader fully supports non-citizens voting in what should be an alarming view for Americans.
Despite the radical views of Jeffries, it appears he will soon lead the left in the House, seeking to unite Democrats under his progressive views.
