Jan. 6 Defendant Arrested At Obama's Home, Hit With Felony Charges

As if getting taken down as a result of the Jan. 6 riots wasn't bad enough, the location where Taylor Taranto was just arrested is sure to ruffle a few feathers.

He was caught near the home of Barack Obama.

Reports indicate that shortly after "former President Donald Trump posted a screenshot that included" Barack Obama's address, Taranto was arrested near the home of America's first Black president.

The charges he faces appear to be mostly related to the riot that happened on Jan. 6, 2021, but Taranto wasn't arrested until June of 2023.

It wasn't until 2024, however, that Taranto was slapped with even more new felony charges.

NBC New York is reporting that Taranto has been hit with five new counts.

Three of the charges relate to guns and ammunition that were reportedly found in Taylor Taranto's van when he was arrested.

Taranto is also facing a felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding because of his J6 involvement.

Additionally, Taranto is being charged with "false information and hoaxes" for allegedly falsely threatening that he was going to set off an explosive at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Taylor Taranto may very well be a Trump supporter, but it's very clear that he has his issues.

These five new charges aren't the only legal problems with which Taranto has been dealing.

Previously, he was sued by the widow of late Officer Jeffrey Smith. According to NBC, "Smith was assaulted on Jan. 6 and died by suicide days after the Capitol attack. His death was ruled to have occurred in the line of duty."

The wrongful death lawsuit alleges that Taranto and another man contributed to Smith's tragic fate.

Taranto was seen in multiple videos carrying a weapon near Smith.
