Jack Smith Hit with Ethics Complaint by Rep. Stefanik
Rep. Stefanik (R-N.Y.) just made a move for Donald Trump that could push her to the top of the list to be his VP.
Stefanik filed an ethics complaint against Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Her complaint sounded like a reiteration of Trump’s talking points, concentrating on the allegation that Smith was interfering with the presidential election.
Charge Him!
Stefanik made the announcement on social media.
She stated, “It’s obvious to any reasonable observer that Jack Smith is trying to interfere with the 2024 election and stop the American people from electing Donald Trump.
“At every turn, he has sought to accelerate his illegal prosecution of President Trump for the clear (if unstated) purpose of trying him before the November election.”
Her full statement is below and was posted on X…

Does she have any chance of Smith being found guilty of election interference? Probably not.
The attack that the general rule is nothing being charged 60 days out does not apply here because these cases were in the works for quite some time.
Actually, Smith can make the argument that had Trump not filed so many motions and appeals, this case would already in the courtroom.
On the flip side, a very easy argument can be made that the DOJ purposely delayed filing the cases to ensure they would block Trump during the 2024 election cycle.
In reality, the courts have not been kind, and I do not expect Stefanik to win this filing, but I doubt that was ever her real purpose.
She wants that VP spot, and this shows loyalty to Trump, so if she still has a chance, this will likely give her a nice boost in Trump’s eyes and likely now has her in the top two or three.
I still believe the best choice for Trump would be Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who would bring quite a few votes with him if he were on that ticket, something that Stefanik does not add to the ticket.
