Jack Smith could face severe consequences for crusade against Trump

When it comes to Special counsel Jack Smith, he STILL could be facing charges.

Even after the cases Smith was pursuing against President Donald Trump have been dropped, Smith and the Department of Justice are NOT out of the woods.

Vice President J.D. Vance took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to share his thoughts on the Department of Justice.

“If Donald J. Trump had lost an election, he may very well have spent the rest of his life in prison. These prosecutions were always political. Now it's time to ensure what happened to President Trump never happens in this country again,” Vance wrote on X.

Vance is right.

Trump COULD have spent the rest of his life behind bars if he had not won on Nov. 5.

Now, while it has not been confirmed that an investigation against Smith will be launched, many believe that such a probe is NECESSARY -- including former federal prosecutor Andrew Cherkasky.

Cherkasky believes an investigation is dire “because of the huge cost and ultimate failure.”

He went on from there.

“Whether that yields findings of criminality is unlikely. However, I think it will find that Smith’s novel legal approach was fraught with issues that should have led a reasonable prosecutor to decline prosecution. Smith is already leaving his special counsel post, but I anticipate some of the lawyers working under him will also be forced out of the [Department of Justice] DOJ for engaging in a legally unsound prosecution,” said Cherkasky.

“There is a lot of evidence that the congressional Jan. 6 committee intentionally avoided evidence beneficial to Trump’s position, and if Smith did the same, his conduct could be grounds for more severe consequences,” Cherkasky continued.

Cherkasky was not alone in his feelings, joined by the president of Article III Project, Mike Davis.

Davis took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, where he wrote that “Jack Smith and his office must face severe legal, political, and financial consequences for their blatant lawfare and election interference.”

Do you think an investigation into Jack Smith will be launched when Trump and Vance take the White House?
