Israeli soldiers killed by terrorist drone attack

Members of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and a large number of civilians were killed in a drone strike that was carried out by the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terrorists over the weekend.

The IDF revealed as much in a statement that they posted to their X account on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024.

Take a look:

Here's what we know:

In its post, the IDF revealed:

Yesterday, a UAV launched by the Hezbollah terrorist organization hit an army base. 4 IDF soldiers were killed in the incident. The IDF shares in the grief of the bereaved families and will continue to accompany them. We ask to refrain from spreading rumours and the names of injured individuals, and to respect the families.

Fox News reports that the attack was carried out by Hezbollah terrorists on a military base in Binyamina, Israel.

The outlet reports:

Israeli media reported that two drones were launched from Lebanon, one of which was intercepted. Who was hurt – whether military members or civilians – or what was struck was not immediately clear.

But, what is know is that, in addition to four members of the IDF, the drone strike claimed the lives about about 60 people.

This was actually the second drone strike targeting Israel in two days. "On Sunday, as Israelis were celebrating Yom Kippur, there was a drone strike in a Tel Aviv suburb that damaged the area but did not cause any injuries," Fox reports.

Background

Hezbollah has taken credit for the attacks. The terrorist group claims that it launched the attacks in retaliation for attacks carried out by the IDF.

Fox reports, "On Thursday, Israel conducted two strikes in Beirut that killed 22 people, and Hezbollah said it was retaliating for the strikes by targeting an Israeli military training camp."

This all comes after Iran recently launched a large missile attack on Israel. The missiles were largely unsuccessful, thanks to Israel's defensive capabilities.

The Biden-Harris administration has been attempting to de-escalate conflict in the region, but it has been unsuccessful in doing so.

Former President Donald Trump believes that he could be successful in bringing peace to the region, if elected in the 2024 election.
