Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Prostate Removal Surgery Required
It has not been a good week in regard to health for world leaders and elected officials.
President Jimmy Carter has died, and it is now being reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu was scheduled to have the surgery on Sunday.
Going Under the Knife
Netanyahu, 75, reportedly had a urinary tract infection that was caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.
That report surfaced on Wednesday when reports surfaced that Netanyahu had been taken to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
A statement from his office read, “Over the past few days, the prime minister has received antibiotic treatment, which successfully eradicated the infection.
“Consequently, the prime minister will undergo a procedure tomorrow to remove the prostate. Full details will be provided later.”
Netanyahu also had surgery in March for treatment of a hernia.
Last year, he had been treated for heart irregularities with the installation of a pacemaker.
Prior to that, Netanyahu had a previous hernia operation in 2013.
As I noted prior, President Jimmy Carter also passed away this week after a two-year stint in hospice care, which is utterly amazing.
Most people go into hospice care and last about a week, which is what happened to Mrs. Carter, who went into hospice after her husband and died only a few days later.
The timing of the surgery was not ideal for Netanyahu, as there was a cabinet meeting scheduled for Sunday, which reportedly still took place in his absence.
He was also supposed to be in court on Monday, as his corruption trial was slated to start for corruption charges he is facing.
Netanyahu is not expected to have an extended stay in the hospital, as his doctors had reported that the surgery went well and there were no signs of cancer.
Having said that, there is still a general concern considering Israel is still at war with Hamas and has been facing attacks from other terrorist organizations supporting Hamas.
