Israel Unleashes Airstrikes on Gaza City in Terror Response

Israel's response to Hamas terror attacks included airstrikes on Tuesday on Gaza City.

The warplanes struck multiple sites overnight, leaving behind devastating destruction and the deaths of multiple Hamas leaders.

"Israel has, so far, issued warnings to civilians in areas of Gaza City and others where they intend to strike. The warnings have given civilians moments to evacuate so as to reduce the number of civilian deaths," Fox News reported.

"Hamas has threatened to start executing captured Israelis if strikes targeted civilians without warning. Israel said that Hamas is holding more than 150 soldiers and civilians hostage in Gaza," it added.

"Overnight, an IDF aircraft struck Joad Abu Shmalah, the Hamas Minister of Economy in the Gaza Strip. As part of his role, he managed the funding of terrorism inside and outside the Gaza Strip. He held security positions in the terrorist organization and led a number of operations targeting Israeli civilians and the State of Israel," IDF said, according to a separate report.

"Overnight, an IDF aircraft struck Zachariah Abu Ma'amar, a senior member of the Hamas terrorist organization's political bureau and head of its office for internal relations. He was a senior Hamas decision-maker and coordinator between terror groups in the Gaza Strip," officials said in a separate statement.

The targeting of the leaders is part of Israel's larger response following the recent terrorist attacks that have killed more than 1,200 people since Saturday.

The Israeli government vowed to destroy Hamas, targeting its sites with airstrikes while also preparing for a ground response.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted in an address, "We have only started striking Hamas."

The actions have been quick and powerful, with the Gaza Strip now sealed off as residents take cover during the military operation in their area.
