Israel Pushes Forward in Gaza in Attacks on Hamas Positions

Israeli Defense Forces moved forward into Gaza on Monday, focusing on Hamas rocket and anti-tank targets.

The ground offensive continued as the war entered its fourth week following Hamas attacks that killed over 1,400 Israelis.

"Calls for a cease-fire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism. That will not happen," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the Bible says that there is a time for peace and a time for war. This is a time for war. A war for our common future," he continued. "Today we draw a line between the forces of civilization and the forces of barbarism. It is a time for everyone to decide where they stand. Israel will stand against the forces of barbarism until victory. I hope and pray that civilized nations everywhere will back this fight," he added.

Southern Command stations, commander is speaking. We are launching an attack on Hamas and the terror groups in the Gaza Strip. Our goal is one, victory. No matter how long the fighting will be, how difficult, there is no other result but victory,” Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman told soldiers Monday.

“We will fight professionally and powerfully in light of the IDF values we were raised on. Chief among them is sticking to the mission and striving for victory,” he says.

While some have criticized the Israeli response, the ground assault came after three weeks of warning civilians in Gaza to flee.

The attacks by Hamas on Israel marked the worst single destruction of Jews since the Holocaust, including over 220 hostages taken into Gaza.

Over 30 Americans also died in the attacks, marking a dark day of tragedy for the U.S. as well.

The war is continuing to move forward, this time with Israel in control as it attacks Hamas sites in Gaza.
