IRS Contractor Who Leaked Trump Records Sentenced to 5 Years

Well, we finally have some justice for one of the many leaks that have taken place at the hands of government employees.

This time it was the IRS contractor that decided to leak Donald Trump’s returns.

Charles Littlejohn was sentenced to five years on Monday.

Activism

We have far too many activists in government roles these days, especially among the alphabet agencies.

We saw the toll that took with the FBI during the election, and the IRS is not much better considering the focus that was on Trump during his presidency on this front.

One of the main reasons that Trump did not want to turn over his tax returns was for this very reason, and he has every right to keep his finances private.

Littlejohn decided the American people needed to see Trump’s tax returns, so he leaked them, among others.

Judge Ana Reyes was not sympathetic to his cause, stating, "The press tells us Democracy dies in darkness. It also dies in lawlessness.

"There are numerous lawful means to bring things to light. Trump was under no obligation to expose his returns. People could vote for someone else. They could run against him."

She went on to call the leak "an intolerable attack on our constitutional democracy."

Judge Reyes then sentenced Littlejohn to five years behind bars, 36 months of supervised release, and a $5,000 fine.

According to the report, Littlejohn took the job with the IRS solely to leak Trump’s records because he considered Trump to be a threat to our democracy (where have we heard that line before?).

During the trial, prosecutors stated, "[Littlejohn] weaponized his access to unmasked taxpayer data to further his own personal political agenda, believing that he was above the law.

"A free press and public engagement with the media are critical to any healthy democracy, but stealing and leaking private, personal tax information strips individuals of the legal protection of their most sensitive data.”

This was clearly not something that was impulsive, especially with his motives for seeking the position coming into the light.

Littlejohn is a product of Democrat rhetoric, using the exact phrase we have heard dozens of Democrats and the media pitch about Donald Trump, yet nobody seems to be blaming them for Littlejohn’s actions like Donald Trump is being blamed.

Just saying…
