This one is going to take some tapping into some old memory cards.
At the turn of the year, DHS Secretary Mayorkas held a meeting with Border Patrol agents.
Video was leaked, showing a very contentious meeting.
Mayorkas tried to play it off as just hearing out concerns of agents, but it was much worse than he had let on.
The emails were obtained via an FOIA request by the Heritage Foundation Oversight Project.
Marsha Espinosa, assistant secretary of DHS public affairs, wrote, "Morning muster in Yuma was ROUGH.
"One agent in the front town [sic] had his back turned to [Mayorkas] the entire time only to ask a question and then turned back."
Agents were unhappy about virtually every policy put in play by this administration.
The COVID policies were specifically mentioned.
Espinosa wrote, "Agent sentiment (the ones that spoke up) is that policies aren't working, don't like masks or vaxx mandate.
"[Ortiz] stepped up to provide support and asked to intro [Mayorkas] next time to better set up."
While publicly speaking out against Title 42 and working against it, the emails reveal that it was being put in place to try to halt the flow in three countries that were not made public at the time.
Considering how many Democrats considered that policy racist by the bad orange man, that is pretty interesting.
The emails also show how the Department tried to spin the narrative after the original Town Hall and Fox News reports went live.
DHS only offered more spin in explaining the emails, stating that the exchange "shows the tremendous respect the DHS staff have for the dedicated workforce at CBP, that the Secretary invited candor and a frank discussion with Border Patrol Agents, and that he listened to them."
This is the part of the meeting where they are "listening" to agents.
Watch how they are berated when expressing their concerns…
No wonder morale was and continues to be low in the department.
