Idaho Republicans call on Supreme Court to reverse same-sex marriage ruling

We have a new president in America, and you can already feel a culture shift happening in America. Gone are the days of constant political correctness and the truth being suppressed to spare people's feelings.

Republicans are now free to take up causes that are important to them, and Idaho's Republican-dominated state House of Representatives is taking full advantage of this newfound freedom.

According to The Independent, Idaho's state House of Representatives "formally called on the Supreme Court to reverse a 2015 ruling that enshrined a fundamental right of same-sex couples to marry."

On January 27, Iowa's House voted 46-24 to pass a resolution declaring that the legislature is officially rejecting the landmark ruling of Obergefell v. Hodges, which established same-sex marriage as a right in America.

Iowa's House called on Supreme Court justices to "restore the natural definition of marriage, a union of one man and one woman."

While the measure does not carry the force of law, it's a strong signal that Republicans will have more freedom to challenge LGBT+ rights under Donald Trump's administration.

Under the rule of Joe Biden, Republicans in America weren't able to question anything related to diversity, equity, or inclusion.

Instead of being able to look at things in terms of what makes sense, we were forced to be silent about anything that could potentially hurt someone's feelings.

With how sensitive liberals in this country were becoming, that concept was restricting free speech more and more every day.

Sarah Warbelow, the Human Rights Campaign's vice president for legal affairs, said that LGBT Americans should be "concerned" about this escalation.

"Extremist attacks have become de rigueur, and LGBTQ+ Americans are right to be concerned about their escalation," she said.

She then called the Republicans expressing their views "cruel."

"This cruel action by Idaho Republicans amounts to nothing more than shouting at the wind," Warbelow said. "A majority of Americans of all political affiliations support marriage equality. Resolutions are not laws, and state legislatures lack the power to dismantle marriage equality."
