ICC Prosecutors Throw ‘Hail Mary’ to Influence Trump Over Sanctions Threat
Trump made it quite clear after taking office that he wanted to take action against the International Criminal Court (ICC) for having issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes.
The United States Senate was backing Trump’s move, preparing legislation to sanction the ICC for the warrant against Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant.
In an effort to pacify Trump, the ICC just issued warrants for Taliban senior leader Haibatullah Akhundzada and Taliban chief justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani for crimes against humanity.
Not Enough
The warrants against the Israeli officials are a complete and utter joke.
Liberals and these kangaroo courts continue to press Israel on the death of “innocent” civilians in Palestine, but there are two things to consider.
First, Hamas hides among civilians, so there will be collateral damage, but you also have to consider the historical numbers in conflicts when it comes to civilians and enemy soldiers being killed. When you look at that, Israel is actually doing a phenomenal job of minimizing civilian casualties.
Second, the way I see it, the people of Palestine, more specifically Gaza, have never pushed back against Hamas, enabling their power, which, to me, makes the entire country a terror state.
In my eyes, if you are enabling terrorism, you are a terrorist… it’s pretty cut and dry.
So, when Karim Khan, a controversial prosecutor for the ICC, issued the warrants for the Taliban, it was seen as nothing more than a “Hail Mary” to try to get Trump to back off his stance.
Rebecca Hamilton, formerly a lawyer in the ICC’s prosecutorial division, stated, "One might argue then, that the ICC Prosecutor’s announcement on Thursday was less about pursuing his mandate, and more about trying to save his job."
Israel’s ambassador to the U.N., Danny Danon, also spoke in the recent warrants, stating, "Prosecutor Karim Khan has a myopic obsession over Israel with the war crimes charges leveled at Israel’s democratically elected prime minister and former defense minister. Equating the leaders of a democracy with leaders of the Hamas terrorist organization – and more recently, with the Taliban – is an insult to the principles of justice."
Institutions like the UN, the WHO, and the ICC have all become bastions for the woke and anti-US ideology. They no longer hold the clout they once did, and they should be treated as such.
To that point, Danon added, "The ICC has lost its credibility, and it’s about time for a review of the ICC’s – and Prosecutor Khan’s – true motivations for focusing so intensely – and so distortedly – on Israel."
We already know there will be at least one Democrat who will join Republicans in going up against the ICC, with Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) having stated, “The ICC's treatment towards Israel and equivocating to Hamas was unacceptable. We should absolutely sanction the ICC."
I back Trump and Congress on this stance 100%. The United States has been getting trounced on the world stage for the last four years, so it is time to use the bully pulpit and all the power it brings to get the US back atop the power brokers in the world.
I say, flex away, President Trump.
