Hunter Biden Faces New Legal Action from Conservative Group

The conservative legal group America First Legal (AFL) has taken legal action against Hunter Biden by filing a complaint with the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Board of Professional Responsibility.

AFL alleges "professional misconduct" by the president's son, claiming that Hunter engaged in a pattern and practice of professional misconduct, violating the District of Columbia Rules of Professional Conduct 8.4.

The group argues that these violations raise "substantial questions as to his honesty, trustworthiness, and fitness as a lawyer."

According to AFL, Rule 8.4 prohibits lawyers from engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation, or implying an ability to "influence improperly" a government agency or official.

The complaint notes that this rule also considers many kinds of illegal conduct, such as offenses involving fraud and willful failure to file an income tax return, reflecting adversely on fitness to practice law.

This reference alludes to the federal tax charges Hunter faces in California in an ongoing investigation.

AFL Senior Counselor and Director of Oversight and Investigations Reed D. Rubinstein stated that there is substantial evidence suggesting that Hunter Biden has engaged in professional misconduct contrary to Rule 8.4.

Rubinstein emphasized the importance of applying the Rules of Professional Conduct consistently and fairly, regardless of a lawyer's political affiliation or family connections.

Hunter Biden recently pleaded not guilty to federal tax crimes, facing charges related to a "four-year scheme" where he allegedly did not pay federal income taxes from January 2017 to October 2020.

He also faces federal firearms charges in Delaware and is subject to ongoing investigations by the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees regarding his foreign business dealings and alleged influence peddling while his father served as vice president.

AFL previously filed a bar complaint against Hunter's attorney, Kevin Morris, in the state of California. Hunter's trial for tax crimes is scheduled to begin on June 20.
